Megyn Neff received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Violin Performance at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. She performed as principal violinist and assistant concertmaster for the NAU Symphony, Chamber and Opera orchestras, and worked as a section violinist with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra for several years. She was honored with orchestral scholarships and was chosen to represent all strings in the 2008 NAU School of Music Honors Recital. During this time, she was also inspired to collaborate with local community folk musicians exploring the genres of gypsy, Klezmer, Americana folk, bluegrass and Cajun fiddle.
While in college, Ms. Neff studied Suzuki Pedagogy from pre-twinkle to Book 3 and student-taught under the tutelage of Dr. Louise Scott, Dr. Karin Hallberg and Dr. Sue Baer. A brief move to Tampa, Florida after graduation allowed Ms. Neff to hone her teaching skills at several schools, observe master teachers and attend Suzuki institutes throughout the east. Since 2008, she has trained with James Hutchins, Joanne Bath and Cathy Lee, and is registered with the SAA in ECE, Books 1 and 2. She now teaches private lessons at her home studio in Central Phoenix for children and adults, group classes with VSSA, and serves on the Arizona Suzuki Association board.
Megyn Neff is now happily settled back in Arizona where she plays with several bands including North Brother Island and the Jon Rauhouse ensemble. Her current orchestral memberships includes the West Valley Symphony, Arizona Pro Arte Ensemble, Phoenix String Quartet, Sweetwater Strings and is often booked for weddings all over Phoenix and Sedona as a solo violinist. Megyn is in high demand for recording sessions for albums, soundtracks and other unique projects.
