Megyn Neff holds a Masters in Violin Performance Pedagogy from Arizona State University with Dr. Katherine McLin, and a Bachelor's in Performance from NAU with Dr. Louise Scott.
Megyn enjoys a full and diverse freelance career with over a decade of live band performance, national tours, session work in genres spanning from classical to americana to gypsy jazz, orchestral and chamber music from Baroque to New Music, and arranging for strings. She is particularly interested in the synthesis of art and popular music, creative space making, performing new works, and exploring old folk styles.
She currently plays with her Klezmer band, The Bushkas, as well as the Jon Rauhouse Orchestra (western swing), Kabarett (original theatrical works), Nate Nathan and the MacDaddyos (60s/70s/80s covers), The Torn Speakers (original folk), the West Valley Symphony, PVCC Open Score Ensemble, and the Oh My Ears House Band (New Music collective).
Megyn is a certified Suzuki violin teacher in Books 1-3 and member of the board for the Arizona Suzuki Association. She has trained with Joanne Bath, Cathy Lee, Mimi Zweig, Winifred Crock, Dr. Louise Scott, and James Hutchins. Her studio remains active in north-central Phoenix, and is currently full with motivated and creative students who participate in local youth ensembles such as Phoenix Youth Symphony, AZMEA Regionals and All-State orchestras. She is also co-head of the Strings Department and violin faculty at Rosie's House, a non-profit music academy for children.
